In this post I have collected for you the most common mistakes nail technicians do while working with hard gel.
Air bubbles in gel
If you twist your brush too much, there would be air bubbles in the product. So pick the product carefully.
Thick layer of base gel
If you apply a thick layer of base gel, there wouldn’t be a strong connection between the materials. So apply base gel with a thin layer and press on the brush.
Too close to the cuticle
Applying gel too close to the cuticle or nail folds can cause product lifting. Remove it before curing!
Too slow
You don’t have much time for working with thin and medium consistency gels. Work fast! If you see that the product is leaking just turn over your client’s hand.
The gel is not cured
Gel could not be cured completely because of the age or power of the lamp or if the client holds her/his hand improperly. Make sure you have a powerful lamp and your client puts her/his entire hand into it.
Thick gel layer
Make sure you do not apply too much transparent or semi-transparent gel. If you did it, the product will burn your clients’ nail while curing. Apply the product with multiple layers. It’s very important in the case of overfilled nails!
Fixing gel layers
“Freezing” technique (curing the layer for 5 seconds to fix the product before full curing) is a time saver!
But it’s not suitable for highly pigmented products (full-coverage nudes, black and white). For these colors, you need to cure them completely as it’s written in directions. Yes, even the smallest parts!
